A origem do nome \u201cCarrancas\u201d se deve as catas \u2013 escava\u00e7\u00f5es de garimpo nas serras \u2013 que removeram a vegeta\u00e7\u00e3o formando desenhos de \u201ccaras feias\u201d.\u00a0 Pequena cidade entre serras, com altitude m\u00e1xima de 1590m no topo da serra das bicas e 896m na represa de Camargos, situada no sul de Minas Gerais.<\/p>\n

O munic\u00edpio de Carrancas tem \u00e1rea de 728 Km2 e faz divisa com os munic\u00edpios de Itutinga, Itumirim, Lumin\u00e1rias, Cruz\u00edlia, S\u00e3o Vicente de Minas, Madre de Deus, S\u00e3o Jo\u00e3o del Rei, Nazareno e Minduri. Possui um clima tropical de altitude, com aquela caracter\u00edstica agrad\u00e1vel do ar puro das montanhas, que vem atraindo visitantes que buscam novas op\u00e7\u00f5es de Ecoturismo.<\/p>\n
