A pequena cidade se desenvolveu a partir de uma antiga fazenda pertencente ao Coronel Francisco Rodrigues Xavier Chaves. Desejoso de ver o progresso chegar a regi\u00e3o, o Coronel doou parte de sua propriedade dando in\u00edcio a um pequeno povoado no come\u00e7o do s\u00e9culo XIX.<\/p>\n

De l\u00e1 pra c\u00e1, o povoado recebeu v\u00e1rias denomina\u00e7\u00f5es e pertenceu aos munic\u00edpios de Tiradentes e Prados at\u00e9 se tornar cidade. Em 1963 passou a se chamar Coronel Xavier Chaves.<\/p>\n

Ainda hoje a fonte de sua economia \u00e9 a atividade agropecu\u00e1ria, mas a cidade vem se revelando como uma \u00f3tima op\u00e7\u00e3o de turismo na regi\u00e3o. Suas antigas constru\u00e7\u00f5es, a paisagem natural, o artesanato e a hospitalidade de sua gente atraem visitantes e turistas de v\u00e1rias partes do Pa\u00eds.<\/p>\n

\"\"Atrativo imperd\u00edvel:\u00a0<\/strong>Visita ao famoso Engenho Boa Vista, que pertenceu ao irm\u00e3o mais velho de Tiradentes, o padre Domingos da Silva Xavier, que conserva a tradi\u00e7\u00e3o e produz excelente cacha\u00e7a do mesmo modo que era feita a aproximadamente 250 anos.<\/p>\n

\nO Engenho Boa Vista pertenceu a Domingos da Silva Xavier, o irm\u00e3o mais velho de Tiradentes, que o recebeu de sua tia Josefa Maria da Concei\u00e7\u00e3o Xavier e seu marido Louren\u00e7o Coutinho.<\/p>\n

Hoje, o engenho conserva a tradi\u00e7\u00e3o e produz excelente aguardente (cacha\u00e7a) do mesmo modo que era feita a aproximadamente 250 anos.<\/p>\n

Na cacha\u00e7a Boa Vista percebe-se a pureza e a qualidade inigual\u00e1vel da bebida de produ\u00e7\u00e3o limitad\u00edssima, destilada em alambique de cobre e envelhecida debaixo do solo em tanques de cimento revestido de parafina.<\/p>\n
